How to add a video to Blogger without YouTube
Updated: October 28, 2026
Blogger only lets you upload small videos or embed YouTube videos from its button. If you want your own player, with no other channels’ recommendations and earning money from views, you can embed any Dembed video with its iframe code in a couple of minutes.
Step by step
- 1Upload your video to Dembed (free) and wait until it’s ready.
- 2Open the video and click “Copy iFrame” with the “Responsive” size.
- 3In Blogger, create or edit a post and switch from “Compose view” to “HTML view” (pencil icon at the top left).
- 4Paste the code where you want the video to appear.
- 5Switch back to compose view to keep writing, then publish.
Code example
<div style="position:relative;width:100%;padding-top:56.25%"><iframe src="https://dembed.cc/embed/v_YOUR_ID" title="My video" style="position:absolute;inset:0;width:100%;height:100%;border:0" allow="autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture; encrypted-media" allowfullscreen loading="lazy"></iframe></div>Adding it to the sidebar or a static page
Under “Layout”, add an “HTML/JavaScript” gadget and paste the same code. For a featured video, use the fixed 640 × 360 size if your sidebar is narrow.
Common issues
- The video doesn’t show in compose view: that’s normal, Blogger shows it in preview and in the published post.
- It looks cropped: use the “Responsive” code, which adapts to your template’s width.
- No sound: if the original file was MKV, upload it as MP4 with AAC audio.
