How to embed a video in Google Sites and Moodle

Updated: November 8, 2026

Google Sites and Moodle are among the most used tools for teachers and schools. Uploading heavy videos straight into Moodle fills the server’s storage and often hits the upload limit. The practical approach is to host the video on Dembed and embed it with an iframe: your students watch it inside the page.

Before you start

  1. 1Upload the video to Dembed (up to 5 GB per file).
  2. 2Copy the code from the “Embed” button, or build a custom one with the embed code generator.
<iframe src="https://dembed.cc/embed/v_YOUR_ID" title="Lesson 1" style="width:100%;aspect-ratio:16/9;border:0" allow="autoplay; fullscreen; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

In Google Sites

  1. 1Open your site and, in the right-hand panel, click Insert → Embed.
  2. 2Choose the “Embed code” tab and paste the iframe.
  3. 3Click Next → Insert and resize the block by dragging its corners.
  4. 4Publish the site so your students see the changes.

In Moodle

If the video disappears when you save, your Moodle administrator restricts iframes. Ask them to allow content from dembed.cc, or share the video’s direct link as a “URL” resource.

  1. 1Turn editing on in the course and add a “Page” resource (or edit a label, assignment or lesson).
  2. 2In the text editor, open the HTML code view (the “</>” or “HTML” button, depending on the editor).
  3. 3Paste the iframe where you want the video and save.

Tips for classes

  • Organize videos in folders by course or unit on Dembed.
  • Add subtitles for accessibility.
  • Turn off downloads if you don’t want the material leaving the course.
