Why a video gets blocked and what to do if it happens to you
Updated: November 6, 2026
Having a video blocked is scary, especially if you don’t know why. On Dembed the rules are few and clear, and they exist to protect people, honest creators and the advertisers who make it possible for you to earn money. Here’s what gets blocked, how it’s decided and what you can do.
What content isn’t allowed
- Child sexual abuse or exploitation material: zero tolerance. It’s blocked, kept as evidence and reported to the authorities.
- Sexually explicit or pornographic content, and intimate content shared without consent.
- Content that infringes copyright: other people’s films, series, matches or courses without permission.
- Terrorism, serious violence or incitement to hatred.
- Harassment, threats or publishing other people’s personal data.
- Malware, phishing or scams.
How a block is decided
- Reports: every video has a “Report” button. The team reviews each report; a report doesn’t block the video on its own.
- Team review: new videos may be reviewed manually.
- Automatic detection of known child sexual abuse material.
- Copyright notices: rights holders can request removal under the copyright (DMCA) policy.
What happens when it’s blocked
- You get a notification in your dashboard with the reason.
- The video stops being viewable by the public and can’t be downloaded, not even from your dashboard.
- The file isn’t deleted right away: it’s kept in case it needs reviewing again or handing to the authorities in serious cases.
- For serious or repeated violations, the account may be suspended.
If you think it’s a mistake
If it was blocked for copyright and you have permission or the content is yours, you can send a counter-notice under the copyright policy. In any other case, write to the contact listed in the Terms with the video’s link and why you believe it follows the rules. If the mistake is confirmed, the video is unblocked and you get another notification.
Inflating views isn’t allowed either
Beyond content, some behaviour isn’t allowed: bots, click farms, auto-reloads or watching your own videos over and over to earn more. It doesn’t block the video, but it can get your account’s monetization suspended.

You get a notification when it’s blocked, with the reason. In cases of suspected child abuse there’s no notice.
